LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy is a non-invasive facial treatment that utilizes various wavelengths of light to address different concerns. Each color triggers reactions within the skin; for instance, blue light therapy targets inflammation, making it effective against acne-causing bacteria and breakouts.
Red and near-infrared light aid in quicker skin healing, promoting collagen production and rejuvenation, while also addressing fine lines and wrinkles. Suitable for all skin types, LED therapy can complement various facial treatments. Originally developed by NASA for plant growth during shuttle, LED (light-emitting diode) therapy has shown promise in wound healing and is now employed by some aestheticians for skin regeneration and acne treatment. Practitioners select red or blue light frequencies based on specific skin issues, with primarily focusing on anti-aging and blue targeting acne.
Unlike other light therapies, LEDs do not emit ultraviolet rays, making them safe for regular use. They are less likely to cause burns compared to chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser treatments, and are generally safe for all skin colors and types. However, those taking Accutane or experiencing skin rashes should avoid LED light therapy. While side effects are rare, they may include increased inflammation, redness, and rashes.
